What is a BCBA?
A Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) is a trained professional who helps people improve their behaviours, especially when those behaviours are challenging. They use proven techniques to teach new, positive behaviours and reduce behaviours that might be harmful or disruptive. BCBAs work with individuals of all ages, including those with autism, and they create personalized plans to help each person succeed.
What is Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)?
Applied Behaviour Analysis is the study of how people’s behaviours are influenced by their environment. It looks at what happens before and after a behaviour to understand why it occurs and how it can be changed. Behaviour analysts use this knowledge to help people learn new skills, improve their behaviour, or reduce behaviours that are harmful or disruptive. The goal is to create positive, lasting changes in behaviour using proven techniques based on research and science. This approach is often used with individuals with autism, but it can help anyone who wants to make changes in their behaviour.
